And one would call to the other, “Holy, holy, holy! … His presence fills all the earth!” - Isaiah 6:3
From the Temple Mount to the beaches of Tel-Aviv, every inch of the Land of Israel is sacred. Perhaps this should be obvious to us given the way it is spoken of throughout the Torah, but it is all too easy to be deceived by the external nature of this world. We tend to perceive Godliness in that which appears holy on the outside and cast all else into the world of the mundane and secular. This perspective creates separation and leaves room for life devoid of the Divine. In our times of the reestablishment of our homeland, I believe that our challenge is to see that not only are the streets of Jerusalem infused with the presence of the Almighty, but so too are the high rises and beaches of Tel-Aviv.
