Artist Reflections

Many times I have experienced a lack in my life, an emptiness inside, crying out for attention. Illustrated by its vastness and difficulty to grow and sustain life, the desert embodies this emotional experience for me. Yet, there is a beauty to the desert unlike any other climate. Indeed, the Torah itself was given on Mount Sinai in the middle of a vast desert. Why? Perhaps it is in order to teach us that it is possible to reveal G-dliness - wholeness, peacefulness, positivity - even in times of experiencing emptiness or lacking. The road paved through the deserted landscape in this scene shows me that there is hope to pave the way through hard times. We are always capable of experiencing sparks of meaning and beauty in our surrounding world if we only tap into this reality.
