Artist Reflections
I captured this photograph during a visit to the resting place of the first Prime Minister of Israel, David Ben-Gurion, and his wife, Paula. While capturing this image, the intense Negev sun peeking through the silhouettes of these trees became a metaphor for seeing potential that is blocked and obscured. Visionaries like Ben-Gurion are able to look beyond the concealments of the world as it appears and see the world as it could be. One of the many visions that Ben-Gurion worked to fulfill was fruitful habitation in the forbidding deserts of Israel. Located deep in the Negev desert in the south of Israel, these trees blossoming next to his last home and burial site represent Ben-Gurion’s role in bringing new life not only to the desert, but also to the entire land of Israel as the Jewish people return home.Free insured shipping worldwide on all of Yehoshua Aryeh's artworks.
